Saturday, 03.13.10: EAT YOUR VEGGIES

<< Return to Main Blog

The weather was nice for a day or two...so we hit the WOD outside...Check out the CrossFit Total!  Nice work Gene!

Make pancreatic cancer the scariest disease you never got by eating more of this bumpy green veggie: broccoli.  Seems that flavonol-rich diets could reduce your risk of pancreatic cancer by up to 23 percent, according to a recent study. And broccoli's got heaps of the compound.  Flavonols are talented little substances found not only in broccoli but also in lots of other fruits and veggies, like apples, onions, and kale. And these compounds help fight cancer on many fronts. First, they ramp up your body's detox machinery, purging dangerous carcinogens from your system. Next, flavonols help prevent cancer cells from growing and dividing. And as if that weren't enough, flavonols encourage cancer cells to self-destruct, too.

YOGA:

Don't forget about Yoga tomorrow morning at 1030. It is at lululemon in the Highlands.  If you are not at least 10 minutes early you probably won't get a spot.

1. First to post...awesome. 'Nother great Saturday. Loved my team of superstars this morning. Russ, stellar job this morning. You were tough! And The Slice, as always, performed like a badass. Had so much fun with everyone who showed.
Also, Sarah, hope you enjoyed your surprise! And is there any news on the weightlifting championships?

2. As of now, we are in the last session. Kulsoom and Heather tore it up! Both broke personal records! Next time, CFOTM will bring an army. Just scouting out today. I'm about to lift. We shall see how that goes...

4. Great job to everyone today! It is so great to see everyone come out and compete hard, but it's even better to see our newbies get welcomed into the teams so fast!

Great job you lifters! Hoping you continue to PR!

5. Danielle, I officially relinquish the title of blog lurker to you. Wear the title proudly as it signifies something. Thanks for bringing The Slice, she should know she always has a home at OTM. Today was great; I am so tired I can hardly lift my fingers to type. Great group at the Team WOD, running down MLK with a twenty pound ball is more challenging than one would think. Party was great too. I hope we have a team WOD next week even though the gym will be closed for cert.

Chandler, remember to open your hips and keep the bar close to your body. Keep us updated.
