Atlanta Marathon & Marathon Relay

Oh Snap, 26.2 For You!

Our dear running buddies at the Atlanta Track Club have a relatively new marathon ready for us to test drive… after decades of hosting a full marathon on Thanksgiving, the fine folks at ATC decided to change things up in 2011 by ditching the old Olympic marathon course on turkey day and coming up with a new course on a new day for 2011.  After all, Atlanta has changed quite a bit and it’s time for some new scenery… the race starts and finishes at Atlantic Station and the course includes some of ATL’s points of call – GA Tech, GA Aquarium, Turner Field, Oakland Cemetery, MLK Center, Piedmont Park and Peachtree Rd (that has zero peach trees on it).  We like it and we think you should see Atlanta one mile at a time.

Not sure 26.2 is for you?  We have an app for that… well, ok, not an app but an option.  Participate in the Marathon Relay.  What’s that you say?  The easiest way to run a marathon without running a marathon.  Still confused?  Gather a group of 4 and share the miles.  That’s right, run 5 to 8 miles and tag out to one of your team mates.  Easy peasy.

All the 26.2 details including registration are here.  Sign up sooner rather than later… the price goes up as the race approaches.
